I removed the factory (150,000) shocks on my 2002 2500HD gmc diesel and I could easily compress them by hand. Very easy to install the new KYB MONOMAX shocks but you need to compress the front shocks on something soft then move fast to get the shock and lower bolt in.
Test drive after the shocks were installed, it's like a different truck. Firm ride and takes potholes so much smoother. No more brake nosedive or throttle nose up. You can feel the shocks on every bump working, so a little annoying but they have softened up and I have adjusted to them. With a snowplow and ballast on potholes with the factory shocks sent my back out of whack but the KYB excel with control and stability. Great price and they work as advertised, I would highly recommend these shocks to anyone.
