The tissue allows you to easily lift each sheet from the book and place it more precisely to the area to be gilded. The tackiness from the gold size will pull the leaf off the tissue backing and secure it to your design. A gilders tip is not necessary with patent gold leaf. Patent Gold Leaf is ideal when applying Gold Leaf to a flat surface area and is preferred in most automotive graphic applications. One book will cover 1 square foot with minimum overlap.

The Pros: good product with gold content. The Cons: slightly smaller squares to work with; and not too different than the other non-gold content products available from the same vendor... I didn't notice much difference in the final application with this product and the other metal leaf without actual gold content. It either speaks very well of the non-gold leaf product (which gives a great appearance of gold content) or it isn't worth the price difference to upgrade to the 23 KT other than for personal preferences. I used both in the same art work application.
