The AnyVolt 3 Universal DC-DC Converter is an adjustable step up / step down 3A switching regulator. The output is adjustable from 3 to 24V. The output voltage is set with a small screw potentiometer on the back of the AnyVolt 3. Once the output voltage is set, it does not matter whether input voltage is higher, lower, or the same as the desired output. The potential applications are endless and only limited by the unit's specifications and your collection of gadgets that require DC power at a different voltage than their supply. Input power and output loads are connected with reusable screw terminals, so no soldering is necessary.

Works great but don't test the current overload function. Does not have internal current limiting. I found that out by testing that function with a high power rheostat. The current on either the input or output must not exceed 3 Amps or you'll be sending it back to Dimension for repair, like I did. Their service is great, quick, and were courteous.

I did add a common mode filter to the input/output to keep the ~380kHz switching frequency at bay. I wound two bifilar FT-50A-J cores with #22 triple coated magnet wire to obtain about 460&#956;H. Roughly 800-1000 Ohms CM impedance is realized with this combo from 300kHz to 50 MHz.
