Alltrade 940387 Kit 69 Piston Ring Compressor Tool Set Review

This type of ring compressor is a necessity for engines in which you slip the cylinder over a piston that is already assembled to the engine because the band can be opened and spread to remove it after use.

This tool is functional, but I wish the workmanship was better out of the box. The pliers act upon a set of tabs spot-welded to the band, and those welds were done crudely enough to leave ragged steel "buttons" and weld spatter raised on the inside surface. I had to polish them down with Dremel tools to avoid scoring the ring lands or catching on a ring as the piston slides through.

In addition, the tangs on the pliers are stamped and formed into shape. Their surfaces are irregular and somewhat oversize, making them difficult to release from the band - especially with only one hand available while still supporting a partially installed cylinder with the other. After fighting with it on the first cylinder, I also reshaped and polished those tangs with the Dremel. Everything was OK after that.

Out of the box, it deserves no more than two stars because of the workmanship -- it should go without saying that a tool that slides against the sides of a piston must be smooth. I hope the low rating causes someone to save their parts from damage by heeding my recommendations before attempting to use it. After the modifications, the tool works as designed, and deserves 4 stars.

Got this headlight after my husband took out a pheasant with the original one. This tarp is exactly what I was looking for as a quick shelter camping tarp. It comes neatly packed in a water resistant bag and takes up very little space which works out nicely if you intend on taking a small pack on your adventure. The layout of the 9 reinforced grommets, 8 around the sides and one in the middle, makes this model very versatile as to how you would like to set it up as a shelter. The size is easily large enough to comfortably fit 2 people and gear. The construction is especially noteworthy. Each grommet is punched through a nylon reinforcement patch/loop at every instance. Do not set up too close to a fire, the falling embers will melt right through almost instantly. The day after the order was placed I received a phone call from the company asking me which color (black or green) I would like. I didn't specify at the time I ordered because it was listed as only having black in stock, but because of the courtesy call I was able to get the green version that I wanted. The Terra Nova Adventure Tarp 2 Person is definitely worth the price and I highly recommend it.

Rugged Ridge 12107.05 Black Window Storage Sport Bar Bag for Jeep Wrangler JK 2-Door/4-Door Review

This seems like the perfect solution, but the bag is too short for newer JK windows. There were no instructions in the box, so when the windows didn't look like they'd fit I searched online for them.

The 12107-05 model is the one that is supposed to fit the JK, and you can see they've added a new step between original steps 1 and 2, basically telling you in a nice way that you have to fold/crease your windows. The whole point of buying this bag was NOT doing that.

The issue with the JK window design is that the bar at the base of the rear window and the C channels in the side windows need to roll in opposite directions from their smallest size to do so without messing them up. Instead of making the bag bigger, Rugged Ridge wants you to fold your windows to make them smaller.

If I wanted to ruin my windows, I could do it for free by just throwing them in the back of my Jeep. I returned the bag.
